Maintaining good health takes more than physical well-being. Maintaining balance, developing lifelong habits and making good choices contribute to one's overall well-being and ultimately, academic success. It's never too late to begin the joureny to better health, and the Wellness Center is here to help you achieve whatever goal you have set for yourself. We have daily classes, personal trainers and state of the art facilities that will provide you with all the tools necessary to reach your potential. The Wellness Center is located directly north of the Warren M. Lee Center for Fine Arts.
What We Offer
Cutting Edge Cardio & Weight Lifting Equipment
The USD Wellness Center has over 40 peices of cardio equipment, a large Free Weight Lifting station, and a variety of machine weights to meet our patron's needs. Our facility also houses the largest clmibing wall in South Dakota, reaching a height of 38 feet tall. We also offer racquetball, basketball/volleyball, and multi-activity courts, in addition to a 160 meter, 3-lane indoor track. A membership also includes access to the indoor pool located across the street at the DakotaDome.
Group Fitness Classes
We offer a variety of over 70 Group Fitness classes a week designed to appeal to all of our members. Whether you are looking for an invigerating Zumba class to get your heart pumping or a Mind and Body designed yoga class, we have something for everyone. Classes are open to anyone and are included in the price of your membership.
Personal Training and Wellness Coaching
If you are looking for some personal guidance to help you meet your health and wellness goals, our staff are here to help! Our training staff is here to teach, guide, and motivate you to get you to where you want to be. The training staff offer multiple boot camps throughout the year. If you are not looking for one-on-one training, these classes are a great way to get in shape with your friends! ur Wellness Coach can help you find balance in your life and will guide you through various exercises to help you set goals or make adjustments to get back on track.
Intramurals and Sport Clubs
The Wellness Center is home to the Intramural and Sports Club staff. All students, faculty, staff and their spouse's are invited to take part in over 15 intramural offerings each semester. We offer competative and non-competative leagues so there is something for everyone! USD is home to 10 active Sport Clubs that encourage student involvement and participation.
Events and Programs
Each year the Wellness Center Staff works hard to provide events and programs that encourage healthy choices and student/membership engagement. Programs include community swim lessons, youth basketball, Wellness-on-Wheels outreach programs, fitness incentive programs, Self-Defense courses and more. Once a month during the academic year we also offer a FREE Wellness Days program that provides body composition, girth measurements and education to anyone in the community.
